I used to post on CBBB and a Politics / Current Events board but haven't been to either for some time.

I'd imagine so. I used a quote by Socrates a couple of days ago and it reminded me of SocratesDefJam. That was a fun site. Too bad it died. I guess it couldn't last without fresh input but it was fun while it lasted.

That's sad in ways because I can't imagine this being someone's only contact with the world but in many cases these people would be shut ins if it weren't for the net so at least they get some sort of social contact. I think on line dating is a pretty cool idea. You get a pic and a general idea of who you're meeting before you send an email and visa versa. It seems silly to take it hard when you're rejected or ignored by a computer so that saves on the emotional hit when the woman says; "No thanks" or "I'd rather kiss a wookie." or whatever.

I met one of those "rescue me" types once. It was sad and funny at the same time.

I accidentally performed a social experiment that ended up yielding some interesting results. I had an ad on Match.Com and I was doing pretty good. I was averaging two to three dates a week with some nice women. Nothing that ended up in the bedroom but it was nice to go out again now that I've been divorced for two years. So one day I'm tweaking my profile and the number of women that were intested suddenly dropped significantly. I couldn't figure out why so I went back in and restored my profile to the way it was before I messed with it and things picked up again. I was really confused because the two profiles were nearly identical. I had changed a couple of typos and a sentence or two but other than that there wasn't any difference. So I sat down and compared the two profiles side by side which is when I discovered that I had accidentally changed my income to the level beneath what I actually made. Being curious I decided to test my theory and adjusted my profile to reflect a lower income and the number of women that were interested dropped again. I adjusted it down again and the number of interested women dropped as well. When I reached the lowest level I didn't get any replies to my emails. So I started raising it again and the number of replies started climbing with my income. Now men may well be horn dogs that are "only after one thing" but at least we admit it.

Your "clever for a 'nut'" comment made me think of a story I heard once:

One day a man is driving down the road when he gets a flat tire. He pulls over and starts to change it, carefully putting the lug nuts in the hub cap so they won't get lost.

While putting the tire out of the trunk he notices that he's in front of a mental institution and several of the clients are wandering around the fenced in grounds and one is sitting on a bench a couple feet away.

As the driver is trying to put the tire on he knocks over the hub cap and the lug nuts fall into a drainage gratting splashing in the water far, far below.

"Great!", The man said out loud, "What the heck am I going to do now?"

The driver was surprised to hear the patient say, "Take a nut off of each of your other three tires and that should get you to the next town where you can buy new ones."

After a couple of minutes the tire was on and the man was prepared to leave when he turned to the patient and said, "You know, that was pretty smart. How come you're in there?"

The patient looked at the driver, smiled kindly, then said, "I'm in here because I'm crazy, not because I'm stupid."

The moral: Alexander was insane and he was a genius. Adolf Hitler was insane and he was also a genius. Joesph Stalin was insane and he was also a genius. Never underestimate the insane because many have shaped the world.

So I dont get the whole attitude of getting a bloke for his money.

Spend a week with your typical anglo female living in California and she'd be happy to explain it to you. You marry a man for the money, and after 2 years you divorce him, get half his assets and alimony. Marry another guy, live with him 2 years, divorce him, get half his assets and more alimony. Once you have enough money marry a man, hump the pool boy and get knocked up by him, don't tell your husband the kids aren't his until they are older than 2, get divorced, get half his assets, get child support (in CA you can't challenge child support due to paternity after 2 years), as well as alimony. Around the age of 30 you retire with the pool boy and his kids in the house you got from husband 1, while driving the car you got from husband 2, and spending the child support money you get from husband 3 who is paying for kids that aren't even his. Welcome to "no fault divorce" in California.

The divorce laws here suck. So who is the retard you keep mentioning? I checked my SA email but I didn't see anything from you?
